One Little Word for 2010

Happy New Year all! Hope you find 2010 to be a wonderful new year with lots of promise for you! Last year I found a blogger who picks a word and makes it her "word" for the year. It's a word that a goal for the upcoming year and I loved the idea. Last year, I chose the word determined and one of my goals was to take a trip to Disney World and I was indeed determined enough to make it happen. However, I also chose to be determined to workout more and that didn't quite materialize like I envisioned, but it was a good try.

So, here are the Broekers' words for this upcoming new year.....
I plan to get my life better organized in '10. This includes my kitchen drawers, to my classroom files, to my purse and feeling like I have a better balance with work and home life.
Let's just say Andy isn't very happy about playing this "game". He picked patience again this year. He said it was tested in '09 and he sees it being tested again this year. We'll have to see if he passes the patience test by 2011.
Tyler wants to succeed this year in school as well as in sports. Tyler says, "I chose this word because it's the only word I could think of and I want to be successful." Okay...so he's a bit like his father.
Madison chose energized because she wants to become a better soccer player in 2010.
Grant really didn't choose this word. In fact, I asked for a word and he said, "three, one, two, five." I guess he thought I said pick a number. Anyway, I chose this word for Grant since I am wanting him to become more appropriate than inappropriate when out in public. Grant needs to find his indoor voice and work on some of his behaviors that include...pouting, screaming and throwing fits which are just to name a few. I will say he's pretty darn cute even though he's one rowdy three year old!
Here's to a fantastic 2010! Please leave your One Little Word under the comments section. We would love to hear what's going to motivate you for the new year!

You made me think very hard here, Amy. There are a lot of words that come to mind and it's hard to pick just one. :)
We'll go with more "Motivation" for 2010.
I hope your family has great success with the goals!
We sure miss being in the neighborhood. Were there last night and can't tell you how much we miss everyone there.
Happy 2010!

Last year my word was "celebrate" with 2 brother's weddings, 2 milestone birthdays (kyle 16, scott 40) and mom and dad's 50th anniversary. This year my word is "decorate". The walls have been bare too long.

I picked 'betterment' simply because it can cover a lot. After reading your post (I went to Bonnie's first) I think that 'organized' would be a good one, too; however, 'betterment' works in that case as well.

Thanks for the great idea.

Evan's word is "joy", as he first said "peace and joy". (I told him he had to pick one.)

Dylan (trying to make this 'assignment' as easy as possible) said, "peace."

My word would have to be "productivity".

So last year my word was 'thin'. Ha! So much for that goal.

I think this year I am going to be more realistic and say 'choices'. I need to make better ones everyday. I realize each day comes down to a series of choices.

I want to choose to eat better and be healthy, choose to spend our money wisely and choose to be happy no matter what happens this year.

I think I would have to agree with Sarah, and my word will be Choices. Each day I have to choose how I react to what happens. No matter how crazy the world around me becomes.

Amy, I am finally getting to my word....I would have to say efficient! I want to be able to finish a scrapbook page in under 3 or 4 hours. I want to get my stuff organized so I can spend less time looking for things. Lets see if I can accomplish that!

Amy, I am so puzzled by what word to pick. I am impressed that you were able to get Andy to take a picture of his word. And I am going to have to use his word too. My mom gave me a plaque that says "Grant me patience to deal with all my blessings". So "Patience" is it!!!! With 3 boys, one girl and one husband.....I think I need it!
